Volunteer Advocacy & Communications Officer

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Volunteer Advocacy and Communications Officer to join I Have Rights on the island of Samos. The role supports our mission to provide legal information and advocacy for asylum seekers, while raising awareness of human‑rights issues in Greece and Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and disseminate communication materials (press releases, newsletters, social media posts) that highlight the organisation’s work and policy recommendations.
• Assist in advocacy campaigns, including drafting position papers, preparing briefing notes, and supporting outreach to local authorities and NGOs.
• Coordinate with the legal team to translate complex asylum procedures into clear, public‑facing content.
• Help organise workshops, public events and media briefings to promote the rights of asylum seekers.
• Monitor media coverage and track policy developments relevant to the project.

Required profile

• Strong interest in human‑rights, migration and advocacy work.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of Greek is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small, flat‑hierarchy team.
• Flexibility to adapt to evolving project needs on a remote island.
