Substation Design Engineer

About the role

Paralos Energy is seeking a Substation Design Engineer to join its technical team. The role focuses on the design and engineering of high‑voltage substations for projects in Greece and abroad, supporting wind farms, transmission systems and related electrical infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Lead electrical design of HV substations, including layouts, equipment arrangement and primary system engineering.
• Prepare and review single‑line diagrams, general arrangements, cable routing, earthing and lightning protection layouts.
• Perform or review grounding, lightning protection, cable sizing, short‑circuit, load‑flow and power system studies.
• Produce technical specifications, datasheets, equipment requirements and full engineering documentation.
• Support construction, installation, testing and commissioning phases, including site visits and inspections.
• Coordinate with procurement, suppliers and interdisciplinary teams, and attend FATs for major equipment.

Required profile

• Diploma, BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering.
• Proven experience in design or engineering of HV substations, transmission systems or similar power infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of electrical studies such as grounding, lightning protection, cable sizing, short‑circuit and load‑flow analysis.
• Familiarity with HV/MV substation equipment (transformers, circuit breakers, disconnectors, instrument transformers, surge arresters, busbars, cables, auxiliary systems).
