Project Controls & Handover Lead

About the role

Designer Group, an international mechanical and electrical provider of turnkey M&E packages, is looking for a Project Controls & Handover Lead in Athens. The role plans, coordinates and drives project close-out, commissioning support, handover readiness, documentation completion and issue resolution, acting as the central link between Construction, Engineering, Commissioning, Quality, vendors, subcontractors and client representatives.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and controls: develop and maintain integrated project schedules, coordinate short-term and milestone planning, run Last Planner and look-ahead processes, produce progress reports, monitor critical path and programme risks, and support planning recovery.
• Turnover and handover: lead turnover readiness programmes, coordinate system handover with commissioning teams, manage handover trackers and schedules, ensure testing, commissioning and certification are complete, and interface with clients and consultants.
• Issues and defects: produce issue status reports, coordinate daily and weekly issue review meetings, and track defects and outstanding works.
• Documentation and close-out: manage close-out documentation, collect warranties, certificates, manuals and as-built information, maintain document trackers, and prepare final handover packages.
• Vendor and supply chain: track outstanding materials, monitor supplier commitments, escalate supplier non-performance, and coordinate vendor attendance at commissioning and issue resolution.
• Reporting: produce executive-ready readiness reports, track readiness metrics, build dashboards, and support client reporting.
• Stakeholder coordination: lead readiness, planning and turnover meetings and keep actions assigned, tracked and closed.

Required profile

• Data centre, pharmaceutical or mission-critical project experience.
• Commissioning and turnover process knowledge.
• Understanding of construction, QA/QC, commissioning and handover processes.
• Strong stakeholder management and reporting skills.
• Experience with issue management and document control systems.

Required skills

• Project planning and controls background.
• Primavera P6 or equivalent planning software.
