Plan Approval Engineer – Naval Architect (Entry Level)

About the role

Advanced Engineering Services is seeking a Plan Approval Engineer to support shipowners in newbuilding projects. The role involves reviewing technical specifications, shipyard drawings and maker documents to ensure compliance with contract requirements and future regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Review and compare technical specifications, shipyard drawings, calculations and maker documents across hull, machinery and ship systems.
• Identify design gaps and departures from contract specifications.
• Anticipate potential problems and help prevent poor design decisions.
• Assess design choices based on construction and operating costs and their impact on long‑term commercial value.
• Evaluate design compatibility with charterer, terminal and future regulatory requirements.
• Request design changes, negotiate with shipyards and makers, and provide decision support to shipowners.

Required profile

• Willingness to learn and understand how ship systems work.
• Professional level English (written, spoken, listening).
• Greek language proficiency.
• Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
