Mid-level PHP Engineer

About the role

SHOPFLIX is building the smartest marketplace in Greece and needs a mid‑level PHP Engineer to help create reliable, scalable, and high‑quality backend applications. You will work closely with product managers and other developers to deliver features that support rapid growth.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain PHP 8.x applications and services.
• Build scalable backend components using Symfony, Composer and Doctrine ORM.
• Work with MySQL for database design, query optimisation and data integrity.
• Implement caching and performance improvements with Redis.
• Create asynchronous workflows using RabbitMQ.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical design.
• Write clean, well‑structured, and thoroughly tested code.
• Participate in code reviews and help raise engineering standards.
• Troubleshoot production issues and propose long‑term solutions.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to solve technical challenges.

Required profile

• 3–4 years of professional PHP development experience.
• Strong knowledge of object‑oriented programming in PHP.
• Solid experience with MySQL and relational database design.
• Hands‑on experience with Redis and RabbitMQ.
• Good understanding of software architecture and common design patterns.
• Familiarity with REST APIs and service‑based architectures.
• Proficiency with Git and modern development workflows.
• Strong debugging and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication and a passion for code quality.
