IT Support Engineer

About the role

MTIS is seeking an IT Support Engineer to deliver technical assistance to its maritime ICT clients. The role involves providing first‑line support primarily via phone or email, with occasional on‑site visits, and ensuring smooth operation of hardware and software systems.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support to end‑users, addressing and tracking issues through a ticketing system.
• Install, administer, and troubleshoot hardware and software, including servers and user operating systems.
• Support and maintain open‑source Linux‑based systems.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation to respond quickly to incidents and outages.
• Document process flows in industry‑standard formats and support the sales department by liaising with warehouses, agents, and customers.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant IT experience.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a fast‑paced team.
• Strong English communication skills and willingness to travel internationally if needed.

Required skills

• Linux system administration (SSH, performance monitoring, log analysis).
• Knowledge of Linux networking concepts (IP addressing, DNS, routing).
• Experience with virtualization platforms such as Proxmox VE, KVM or VMware.
• Understanding of storage technologies (RAID, ZFS, EXT4, NFS, iSCSI).
• Familiarity with remote access tools like AnyDesk or TeamViewer.
