Geotechnical Engineer

About the role

The Geotechnical Engineer will support the Geoscience Engineering Team on subsea cable projects, from early tender and FEED stages through to execution. The role involves reviewing and conducting burial assessments, cable routing studies, site‑investigation planning and performance assessments of jet, trencher and plough equipment. Occasional offshore attendance may be required to provide expert guidance on‑site.

Key responsibilities

• Review geotechnical and geophysical data, define ground models and perform burial assessment studies.
• Undertake or review route engineering studies and assess jet/trencher/plough performance using field data.
• Define and review site‑investigation scopes, provide live support during investigations and perform related calculations (e.g., pile penetration, cable‑soil interaction).
• Oversee subcontractors, conduct QA/QC of their analyses and interface with project managers, offshore engineers and clients to present findings.
• Participate in limited onboard attendance for project preparation or site‑investigation supervision.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology (Master’s preferred).
• 0‑5 years of relevant experience in offshore renewables, oil & gas or related sectors.
• Proficiency in English, both oral and written.
• Familiarity with industry standards for site investigation and geotechnical design.

• GIS (Geographic Information Systems).
