Critical Environment Technician

About the role

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation team is looking for a Critical Environment Technician to keep datacenter infrastructure running smoothly. You will work hands‑on with equipment that controls temperature, power, and air quality, ensuring safe and reliable operations.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as an operations specialist in a specific area such as electrical, mechanical, controls, or generators, handling advanced tasks independently.
• Inspect and supervise critical‑environment equipment (HVAC, heating, ventilation, cooling, mechanical systems) and building grounds, reporting unsafe conditions.
• Use the internal Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track assets and complete work orders.
• Respond quickly to onsite incidents, lead incident response teams, and coordinate corrective repairs with other facilities professionals.
• Monitor equipment performance through telemetry and other platforms to anticipate issues.

Required profile

• Hands‑on understanding of critical environment equipment and its operation.
• Ability to recognize safe versus unsafe work conditions and act accordingly.
• Strong coordination skills with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams.
• Capability to work independently and lead incident response without supervision.
