Chief Accountant

About the role

Trade Estates REIC, a leading real estate investment company listed on the Athens Stock Exchange, is expanding its finance team. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Chief Accountant will oversee the entire accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with Greek and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Accounting Department, providing guidance and professional growth opportunities.
• Maintain and review general ledger accounts, oversee account reconciliations, and manage receivables, payables, fixed assets, customers, and suppliers.
• Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes and prepare statutory and consolidated financial statements in accordance with Greek Accounting Standards and IFRS.
• Prepare and submit corporate income tax returns (Forms N, E3, E9) and review VAT, withholding tax, and myDATA filings.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements.
• Act as primary liaison for external auditors, tax advisors, and consultants.
• Evaluate, enhance, and implement accounting policies, internal controls, and ERP systems, especially Microsoft Business Central.
• Support the CFO in investment transactions, acquisitions, restructurings, and financial modeling for strategic initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in accounting and finance, including managerial responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of Greek accounting principles and tax legislation.
