Business Development Manager – Chartering (Maritime)

About the role

We are seeking a Business Development Manager – Chartering to expand our global commercial network. This hunter‑type position will identify and engage new cargo owners, charterers, operators and brokers, opening fresh opportunities for the company’s dry‑bulk fleet.

Key responsibilities

• Map global chartering markets by segment and region to uncover cargoes and partners outside the current network.
• Research competitor activities, trade lanes and client relationships to spot gaps.
• Initiate and build relationships with new accounts through direct outreach, industry events and existing networks.
• Qualify opportunities and hand them over to the chartering team for execution.
• Represent the company at conferences, chartering events and trade gatherings.
• Collaborate with chartering and operations teams to ensure smooth handover of new accounts.
• Track and report market coverage, pipeline development and new‑account performance to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Proven experience in chartering with a solid understanding of how fixtures are created.
• Demonstrated ability to prospect new business and build relationships with owners, charterers and brokers.
• Strong market research and analytical skills to identify opportunities.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence to engage senior industry stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel as needed for industry events and client meetings.
