Regional Recruiter – Shipping

About the role

As a key member of the Talent Acquisition team, the Regional Recruiter – Shipping will lead end‑to‑end hiring for Trafigura’s shipping function in Athens. Reporting to the Regional Talent Acquisition Manager, the role partners closely with senior hiring managers and contributes to the firm’s growth by securing top maritime talent.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle recruitment for all levels across the shipping value chain, from sourcing to offer.
• Partner with hiring managers to define talent needs, hiring plans and recruitment strategies.
• Proactively source passive candidates in niche maritime and shipping talent pools using industry networks, maritime associations and LinkedIn.
• Deliver 100 % direct hiring – no recruitment agencies or third‑party vendors are used.
• Conduct thorough interviews assessing technical baseline and core competencies.
• Support internship and early‑career programmes and, when required, hiring for other business areas.
• Ensure compliance with local employment legislation and company hiring policies.
• Provide training and guidance to hiring managers on recruitment processes and technical assessment frameworks specific to shipping.
• Represent Trafigura at industry events, conferences and university career fairs to strengthen employer branding.
• Build relationships with maritime academies and professional associations to enhance the talent pipeline.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing end‑to‑end recruitment, preferably within the shipping or maritime sector.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to work autonomously.
• Good knowledge of local employment legislation and compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging candidates and hiring managers.
• Ability to promote employer brand at industry events and academic institutions.
