Accountant

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our growing team in Greece. You will be responsible for handling bookkeeping, tax filings and month‑end close in line with Greek GAAP, IFRS and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform regular bookkeeping activities in accordance with GR GAAP/IFRS.
• Prepare month‑end and year‑end trial balances and closing journal entries.
• Manage monthly reconciliations and filings for the MyData online platform.
• Prepare and file corporate tax returns (VAT, CIT, withholding taxes) and other tax‑related submissions.
• Verify documentation and process payments.
• Reconcile all general‑ledger and bank accounts on a monthly basis.
• Maintain the fixed‑assets register.
• Provide accounting support to other back‑office units.
• Study existing and new legislation to ensure compliance with financial legal requirements.
• Analyse and implement system and procedural improvements to enhance workflow.
• Prepare management and ad‑hoc reports.

Required profile

• BSc in Accounting, Finance or a related field (MSc or professional qualifications are a plus).
• Minimum 4 years of proven accounting and tax experience in the banking sector or at a Big 4 firm.
• Strong knowledge of GR GAAP, IFRS and local tax legislation.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially MS Excel.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• High analytical ability, accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Capacity to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines while maintaining confidentiality and integrity.
