Accountant – Finance & Project Accounting (Athens)

About the role

Ameresco is seeking an Accountant to join its Athens office and support the company’s renewable energy and energy‑efficiency operations in Greece. Reporting to the Manager‑International Accounting, you will handle daily financial tasks, maintain accurate records, and assist with reporting and compliance for both standalone entities and joint‑venture projects.

Key responsibilities

• Record and process financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable.
• Prepare bank reconciliations and monitor cash balances.
• Maintain accounting records, invoices, and supporting documentation.
• Assist in month‑end and year‑end closing processes and ensure timely book closure in accordance with Greek GAAP.
• Prepare VAT and WHT declarations and support MyDATA reporting.
• Collaborate with vendors, clients, and internal departments on financial matters.
• Support the preparation of financial reports, spreadsheets, and project accounting policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience or familiarity with Greek GAAP or equivalent accounting standards.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
